In the past two months, I have received approximately 30 different wedding announcements and/or facebook invites requesting that I join their group so they can send me a wedding announcement. You know the ones: "We are getting married" or "I am marrying my best friend" or "Join if you want an invitation" or my personal favorite "We just want a gift, so join."
Like the rest of you, I join the group, write my address, remove myself from the group, and await their announcement so that it can be placed on the fridge and we can all judge how beautiful the couple is. We all do it, and let's just make it clear that I have judged many of you that follow this blog.
Any way you look at it, I am getting bombarded with wedding propaganda from some of my best friends. I don't mind. Really. I just hope they know that the only thing they will be receiving as a gift will be my presence at a sealing and/or reception. I don't think there is a better gift.
This weekend, it was Spencer and Chelsea's turn to get married.
Spencer has been best friends with Sam Beckstead for the longest time and when Cole and I moved into University Villa two and a half years ago, we lived just doors away from Sam and Spencer. Since then, we have lived with Spencer or next door to him since that time.
The group of friends that I have come to know through Spencer and the Becksteads have been some of the greatest that I have ever met. Everyone of them was in town this weekend, and after having a bachelor party Friday night - which meant meeting up with the girls after dinner - we were all able to go to the sealing Saturday morning. If that weren't great in itself, they invited all of us to the luncheon at the Lion House (where I may add they were very stingy on their rolls), and fed us once again at the reception four hours later.

Top three moments of the weekend.
1 - Jeff making fun of my linen suit, and Heather reminding him that at least I am not a midget.
2 - Everyone sharing their favorite memory of Spencer and Chelsea at 2 in the morning, while Daphne and I roleplay as the couple.
3 - Sitting next to Daphne during the sealing and having multiple people wonder if we were engaged to be married. For the record, we aren't... yet.

In a sense, we just tried to hang out.
Love this. I wish I could have been there! Daphne looks beautiful and I wouldn't mind one bit if you two got married. :)
ReplyDeleteYou+Daphne=my favorite people of all time. I wish I could combine you two, and raise Garphne from a tiny infant to the strong yet wickedly funny person it would be today, and reap all the applause for a job well done to myself. Dang it. Well since that's not possible, I'll just keep you as my best friend.
