Highlights

rather than post the current stresses of the past week (which i can assure you are many) i will choose to post some of the highlights of the past week.

* watching the same arrested development episode three times in two days and laughing harder each time. "i'm a monster." "what do you expect mother?"

* looking at anna who just happened to have her tongue out of her mouth, drooling over a computer screen with a picture of the jonas brothers and being jealous of three teenage brothers. i think i need a new last name. preferably one that starts with j. or better yet, some tighter pants.

* reading the best of the police beat in the newspaper. "oct. 2001: a female byu student living in deseret towers received a suspicious looking brown paper package in the mail. The student did not recognize the return address and called the police. after investigating, police concluded that a friend had purchased a beanie baby on ebay and the beanie baby has been sent directly to the byu student." self-explanatory.

* coming across the text stephen sent from the airport on thanksgiving. "i just walked by the bookstore and every book in their window display was about sarah palin. will somebody please call and tell her nobody cares about her or her porno star son-in-law." i couldn't have said it better myself.

* witnessing one couple hardcore making out, another bicker over when they were going to get engaged and a young mother breast-feed her infant child. all during an afternoon inside the library. what would harold b. lee think?

* searching the whole HFAC to find an empty room to hear anna play the piano. one of her many talents.

* finally using my gift cards to macaroni grill from last christmas. luckily the food was more fresh than the card.

* teaching the final review for my class and turning into a pushover as the students probed for any answers to the final. i gave in. by the end of the hour, they all but kissed my feet. i needed the attention and they needed the help.

* being asked to play a piano solo for the ward christmas program on sunday. secretly wishing that my mom and dad could come.

* finally finishing an internship application for a health advocacy program in washington d.c. keep your fingers crossed.

* debating baby names with the engaged stephen and megan. they like bible traditional names. i highly disagree.

* watching the first presidency christmas devotional and feeling reassured that this season is one to remember and a time to celebrate not only christ's birth, but his life.

* singing christmas music very loudly in the kitchen while grading papers and randomly getting a text that says, "shhhhhh." it was from billy. sent from his bedroom.

* talking to caitlin on campus as she explains to me how she left the library late one night and was scared to walk home alone. she decided to call her mom, who advised her to call me. why? because she knew i was in the library late. me, having never met this woman, wanted to know how a woman who lives in san diego, knew that i was spending all my time in the library. caitlin's answer: her mom reads my blog. i laughed and then felt famous.

so to all of you who are strangers and read this blog, feel free to comment.

don't be shy... i like stalkers.
