Fall Fever

There's nothing better than being home. And that is the truth.

The company, food;, laughs, activities - all seem to be better.

When I was driving home on Friday afternoon - after having worked almost 50 hours in four days - I thought about how needed this weekend break was. Interning all day and serving all night (usually weekends), takes not only a really big toll on my social life, but leaves me exhausted for weeks at a time.

I was so happy to see my parents. Sure I had seen them a few weeks ago when they came to Salt Lake, but I was ready to spend some quality time with them in Pocatello. And let's not forget about Marcus. He has grown so much. He kicks, laughs, and just recently sucks his thumb. I told Heidi that Aubrey must have taught that to him when she was babysitting one of those days.

Friday night, we had dinner as a family before heading to the Highland/Poky football game. I hadn't been to one since my senior year, and I was pleased to note that the rivalry hasn't died one bit. We lost in overtime, but the game was surprisingly better than the recent BYU games that I have seen.

Saturday I got up and met Heidi/Mike/Marcus and Aubrey/Kevin/Dawson/Beck and Whitney/Andee/Paxton at Swore Farms. We had planned to go out to the pumpkin patch and find pumpkins to carve. But they had recently picked the patch and had all of them in a greenhouse to be weighed.

The weather was freezing, but we got Marcus all bundled up to find his first pumpkin.

Trying to get a picture of all four of them smiling was probably harder than finding the perfect pumpkin.

I guess you could say he is guarding the barrel of pumpkins we finally found.

The corn maze out at the farm made for a good background, but it didn't warrant our $4 to enter.

We left the others and went back to my parent's house to carve some of the pumpkins that we had bought. Thanks to Heidi's pumpkin carving kit, the job seemed easier than the actual cleanup. Marcus wasn't much help, but he did end up getting his own with an M carved in the middle.

The finished project.

Later that night, we met back up with my parents and Whitney for chinese food and a wedding reception for dessert.

Sunday, we had my aunts and their families over for dinner. That seems to be a Sunday custom when I am in town. And of course I forgot to take pictures of the event. However, the food didn't disappoint and the laughs didn't either. We looked at the pictures from my parents trip to Hawaii just as a huge storm was hitting Pocatello knocking the tv and some power out. Nothing makes you covet being in a tropical place than listening to the hail outside.

Here are a few from their trip (mostly so Dallen and Kally can see).

There's nothing like fall weather. But the colder it gets, the more I wish I was in Hawaii. They had a fabulous time.

So here I am. Back to Salt Lake.

Yesterday, when driving home on the freeway, I was tempted to drive forty more miles to Provo. For some reasoon, it feels a lot more like a second home than Salt Lake. Oh well. Today I am back to the daily grind and I don't really have time to think about which places 'feels' better anyway.

Hope your weekend was as festive as mine.
