Dad & (Mom)

Last month I was in Pocatello to celebrate Mother's Day and yesterday I was in Pocatello to celebrate Father's Day.

Both days have been memorable.

When I think of my dad, it is easy to think of the many memories that we have had together.
* disneyland as a child
* baptism day
* teaching me to ride our little blue bike
* reading his weekly inspirational emails in mexico
* yellow note pads
* playing phase 10
* camping at scout camp

the list goes on and on and on and on.

About a year ago, when all of our family was together, he told us that what he wanted more than anything was to keep making traditions as a family because those are the things that we remember. We all agreed because it is what all of us want as well. Looking back, my parents have done a great job at doing that exact thing. They have chosen not to focus on the trivial and monetary things in this life, but have put all their effort into spending time with their family. Whether that means flying to visit Dallen and Kally numerous times throughout the year, having Mike and Heidi over every Sunday for dinner, or giving me gas money so I can drive home.

Being with your family really is what matters. Thanks for teaching me that!

This weekend I spent every second with my parents. We celebrated my 24th birthday, ate cake and ice cream, ran errands, went grocery shopping, visited yard sales, went to a wedding reception, went to church and had a great father's day dinner. I am still amazed how my mother can pull off such an amazing dinner in only an hour. I guess sometimes I forget that she is Patty Harding, and not some impostor.

Mike, Heidi, Tami, and her family also spent everyday with us. I guess it has become a tradition that every time I come home I end up spending time with them. Just call us the Hardinstensens.

One big, funny and loud family.
