Happy

normally when my alarm goes off at 6:45 on monday mornings, i pay no attention and silence my phone as fast as i can. this incoherent routine has taken place everyday for the past couple months, or possibly couple years. i can't really remember. for those of you fortunate enough to ever witness my awakening, i apologize. i am not a happy person in the morning, especially monday morning, because i am so exhausted from the weekend. however, when i went to bed last night around 1:30, i knew that when i woke up five hours later, i would be happy.

i was right.

this morning i feel happy.

happy because i woke up and actually had hot water. this being, because the two extra guests using our living room as a bedroom the past couple nights were finally gone.

happy because on thursday night, i was able to go to in-n-out in orem. it finally opened, and even though we weren't planning on going, we decided to. apparently the rest of provo and orem had the same idea. their goal was to serve 10,000 people by the time they closed, and when we arrived at 11:30, i am pretty sure they had already surpassed that goal. we waited in the drive-thru line for over half an hour listening to the new john mayer cd, but oh was it worth it.

happy because i was able to spend friday afternoon and evening in park city eating great food, bargain shopping at the outlet malls, walking up and down main street, finding plastic pieces in a brownie dessert and meeting a fancy british woman named Sarah. memorable.

happy because i didn't have to work saturday morning and was able to sleep in and get almost everything on my to-do list checked off.

happy because i finally saw the blind side. it is the feel good movie of the year and as anna said, "it made me want to be a better person. i don't know if new moon can do that." so for all the twilight fans, stop fantasizing and drooling over sparkling vampires and underage werewolfs. stop obsessing and living vicariously through a poorly-written book/movie and go out and see a real movie this holiday. i promise it will make you happy.

happy because stephen and megan are finally engaged. it was made official saturday night and i couldn't be more excited for either of them.

happy because my sunday was spent teaching sunday school, watching apollo 13, napping, making amazing dinner, being uplifted at a musical fireside, baking cookies, and watching the patriot (all with my new favorite person)

happy because i am going home to spend the holiday with my family.

that will bring me the most happiness.

  1. Garr,
I'm so jealous you are going home for the holidays. Tell your family hello. I'm sure you will see mine as well tell them hello. Can't wait to see you over Christmas. Glad to hear you are so "HAPPY."

  2. Glad you are happy! I am happy too :) I really want to see Blind Side, but I still like New Moon. Don't worry I am not that crazy about it though. I know you totally see me as the crazed fan type, but it just isn't in me. Hope to see you while I am home!

And you have inspired me to watch the blind side. It's possible that I was pressured into the midnight showing of New Moon and feel like seeing The Blind Side would make up for it.
