Big winner... or so I thought! Great story to share. Monday night I was driving home from work listening to this Spanish music channel that I sometimes listen to. So I am just sitting in the car, singing along, when they come on and say... how would you like to win a family vacation for four to disneyland? I thought, well I just was in California, but it would be great to WIN a trip to go see Mickey and the gang. So I kept listening. They said... Quien canta la cancion La Camisa Negra? (translated to... who sings the song "The Black Shirt") Because I did serve in Mexico and everyone and their dog listens to their reggae music on the highest decimal level, I learned that song and I thought... It's Juanes!! Juanes sings the song. So they said... if you know, dial this number. I sat there thinking, should I call?! Those of you that know me know that I called. How could I pass up a chance at winning?! So I called and they said you have won. By this time I was in the parking lot of my apartment complex and I ran inside and told my three roommates, we are going to California! Their only reaction was... a stunned look and them asking a million questions. The station said they would call me back and so I sat waiting and shocked. Here comes the end of the story. They call me back and it is this travel agency (US Travel or something like that) saying that I won 4 days and 3 nights to Anaheim California and 2 tickets to the Disneyland park. Then they started explaining all of the terms and conditions, etc. It was all a blur, because first of all it was still in Spanish, and I had a terrible headache from being sick. Ok... So I listen and they say, do you accept? I say of course, and they finally ask how old I am and the ages of my kids and wife. I'm like... uhhh... Soy soltero...todavia no me he casado (translated to... i'm single, still not married). They say oh ok that's fine, you're at least 25 then. I respond... No, solo tengo 22 anos (translated to... No, I'm only 22). They ask if I am serious and tell me that because it is a FAMILY vacation, in order to be eligible to win, I either must be married, have kids or be 25 years old. So I sit down and ask them if there are any other options. They say that I could pay like $200 for some fee to make me eligible. I thought about it and they pressured me and explained other stuff, and the more I heard, the more hidden stuff there was. Anyway, I declined and am no longer headed on another vacation. Sad news! How's that for a random story? I couldn't believe that I had actually won. They gave my hopes and my roommates hopes up... we were all excited to go....Oh well, it was an exciting ordeal to end my boring work day!
