Red Iguana

When Daphne comes to town, you can always expect mexican food. Not sure if it's the latina blood in her or if she just really loves the stuff. Either way I was looking forward to this since Rachel and I picked her up at the airport Friday night.

When we all lived in Provo we would go to Los Hermanos on Center Street. Not because we loved it, but because it was tradition.
Well, and because Daphne is pretty stubborn and wouldn't let us try anything else.

While discussing our plans while she was visiting from Vegas, I suggested that we eat at Red Iguana - the hole in the wall restaurant on North Temple that just happens to be the highest rated mexican restaurant in all of Salt Lake County. Everyone at work recommended it. As did everyone on zagat, yelp, and google.

We were lucky enough to have a reservation. The wait was over two hours - on a Tuesday night. That alone is a sign of a great place.

The food did not disappoint and was certified amazing by Daphne herself. The enchiladas suizas with mole poblano were unbelievable. As were the chips and salsa.

This may sound like an exaggeration, but it really was the most authentic mexican food I have had since coming home from the actual country three years ago. That is saying something.

Next time you are in town - try it! I promise it will put out.
