Happy New Year! A month late.
For the past thirty days I have been promising myself that I was going to update this thing with posts, pictures, music, videos, quotes, and everything else that I usually upload. Yet, each day has come and gone and I have failed to do anything - partly because I don’t have internet at my new place. And to be honest, putting it on the very bottom of my to-do-list has been rather beneficial. It has allowed me to focus on things that were more important. Because lets be honest, almost everything is more important than me sitting at home on my laptop telling family, friends and strangers about my life.
I have realized in the past few weeks that during the whole year of 2010 I was constantly trying to catch-up on my blog so that other people could see and in some small way, experience some of my everyday activities with – me – Harding Party of 1. Before certain activities I would grab my camera so just that I would have pictures to blog about. Rather than wanting to capture the memory, I would think, ‘this would be a great blog post.’ Instead of experiencing the moments, which happened to be hundreds of great things, I was too focused on trying to share something that hadn’t even occurred yet. Ridiculous. I can’t tell you how many times this happened.
So I decided to change my mentality.
From the:
Always-anticipating-the-next-big-grand-blog-worthy-event-so-that-all-my-friends-family-ex-girlfriends-and-stalkers-will-see-how-wonderful-my-life-is
to the:
I-will-continue-to-have-fun-and-make-memories-and-if-I-have-time-I-will-share-them-because-I-do-what-I-want
I don’t do resolutions, but if I did and if I could remember that word for word, I would declare that as mine.
One month late of course.

Now for the recap because 1 - I have time and 2 - I have decided I can’t let such an amazing month be left only in my memory.
Public acknowledgement on this here blog is definitely necessary.
In the first two weeks I have: moved out of my apartment opting to move in with Sam and Jon for a week, quit my nightly job at Tucanos, switched wards and callings, buzzed my hair, moved for a second time into an amazing house, taken half of everything I own to d.i., started a new job at Huntsman, and switched wards for a third and final time.
Apart from that I have: made numerous trips to Barnes and Noble for internet, enrolled in an institute class, received a great package from San Diego, gone ice skating, celebrated crew birthdays at cheesecake factory, rented about a dozen movies from redbox, received a much-needed visit from my parents, anxiously watched BYU basketball, attended the Sundance film festival, traveled to Provo for a Peter Pan production, and read four amazing books: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Room, The Book Thief, and Great Expectations.

I think it’s safe to say that I am starting 2011 off on a positive step. I feel stable. Rested. Appreciative.
The word change has taken on a whole new meaning for the month because it is finally reading as an encouraging verb rather than a pessimistic roadblock of a noun.
If that isn’t something to blog about – even a month late – then I don’t know what is.
Glad 2011 is starting out strong for you. Hope the next 11 months are just as wonderful, if not even better.
