it technically started on wednesday evening because i only had one class on thursday and none on friday. that night i was able to do a little service project with my friend anna (who is all sorts of wonderful). byusa was putting together christmas packages for the soldiers in iraq and afghanistan, and so we decided that we would do a good deed and fill the package. because neither of us like walmart, we headed to target and found gloves, a hat, toothbrush, mouthwash, gum, candy, playing cards and an air freshner. pretty random, but most of those were on the list of suggested items. we laughed all night as we watched modern family, made personalized cards and listened to anna sing "i'm proud to be an american" and "american pie." i was so proud.

thursday was spent with the parentals. (see post below)
friday rolled around and i was able to go to salt lake and reunite with some of the other efy counselors for an italian pizza dinner. i heard about settebellos as i was stalking an old friend's blog (yes i do that. quite often actually). every weekend this girl makes a post about this place, and so i figured i would see what all the hoopla was about. the other counselors were skeptical, but i knew that it must've been legit if she was posting about it every single week. it is legit. too legit actually. afterward, we went to the cheesecake factory for dessert. though pricey, it is the best dessert around (especially during the holidays when they have pumpkin pecan). plus i had great company so it was definitely worth it.

saturday morning hit me like a ton of bricks. playing in an intramural soccer game on only a couple hours of sleep is not very effective, even if you are the team all star. luckily the rest of the team came more prepared and we won 4-2. i wore my uniform with pride the rest of the day as i went with nicole to kneaders, GenX (the mexican store) and cafe rio. she needed a pick-me-up and i think my soccer cleats, mixed with my singing, passenger seat driving and 'that's what she said jokes' were just the remedy. that night billy and cailtin met anna and i for a tiedye fest. though none of us smoke marijuana, protest wars or go to woodstock, we felt the need to express ourselves. those hours spent together dyeing, playing scattegories, watching arrested development and snl were the funniest of the weekend...body down! the only setback: getting locked out of the apartment at 2:00 in the morning and pounding on the door for fifteen minutes trying to wake billy and cole from their slumber. if billy wouldn't have woken up, i would've been forced to sleep outside with the homeless. and by homeless, i mean the drunks. (wouldn't that have been a trial worthy of blogging about).

sunday after dinner, a bunch of us got together to celebrate spencer's birthday. since his fiance is in kansas for the next five months, we felt the need to fill his void with a little celebration. it was the first time all of us have been together in a really really long time and you would've thought we were all prepubescent by the way everyone acted with the pinata, candy throwing, mudpie dessert, and balloon games. it was pure joy and the ridiculous youtube video we watched to end the night may have just earned a spot as one of my next posts.

thanks to billy, caitlin, cole, kimbre, nicole, jeff, spencer, daphne, rachel, krista, sam, kara, caleb, jess, emily, jack, brandon, marc, sarah, kory, staley, mom, dad and anna.
