Moments I Wouldn't Mind Remembering

throwing pumpkins... off my third floor apartment into a crowd of girls dancing to 'party in the usa' at 12:30 in the morning, and finding out the next day that one of them is my family home evening mom. i got grounded and was forced to give the lesson the next week for interrupting their 'miley time'.

watching the crazies in the halloween parade. my apartment complex decided to have a parade where all of us could show off our halloween costumes in a procession. the crazies were definitely in attendance. they came with their floats, tiaras, motorized couches, bagpipes, pacman costumes and scooters. they threw twinkies, cupcakes and tortillas. but no candy. not sure why, but i assume it was because this was a freak show, not an elementary school procession with parents and teachers. the parade, followed by a dance party in the street blocking traffic for over an hour was a great way to spend halloween morning.

witnessing billy and cailtin's picnic of cafe rio tostadas. they pull out the blanket, take off their vans and watch the disney channel at least once a week. a tradition that will probably last their whole lives.

watching the movie '500 days of summer.' i saw it a few weeks back and can't stop thinking about how great the random impromptu dance is to hall and oates' you make my dreams come true. it's by far the best part of the movie. i hope it makes you as happy as it makes me.

reading a random email i received from kimbre this week. here's a little background info. (when you enroll in your classes, byu offers an email system for all of its students; facilitating the process of emailing professors, fellow students and teaching assistants. when you compose the message, there is an option to either send it to just the teacher or everyone in the class). this particular email was intended only for the professor, but was instead sent to the entire 200+ students enrolled in the math class.

"Hello Bro. Wadley. So I feel a bit overwhelmed with test 3. I've tried my hand at appealing to notes and the book while attempting the practice exam, but however can't seem to understand it. I do well on the assignments and quizes only because I do them right after class. However trying to take at the end of the unit I just get frustrated, even with using the mathlab and review sessions to my advantage. This is the second time I am taking this class in my college career and I am trying my best. I never needed to take this class in the first place because of my ACT score that waived the requirement but did not know until after I had started well into my freshman year in the freshman acadamy program which had math 110 in it's envelope of courses. I ended up failing that class for some complicated reasons that I could explain if you wish. I plan on finishing this course and trying my best and continuing on, however I understand that my grade will be very low on for some reason my lack of ability to perform well. I am hoping that you could work with me on this and if I demonstrate effort in trying my best even if I perform poorly on the tests if you could maybe just give me a 'P' grade by the end of the semester. It would help a lot and fix my low GPA and help it get back to where it was supposed to be in the first place with just a 'W'. Let me know what we could do and make a plan. Thanks for understanding Jeff S."

oops jeff. now everyone in class knows that you failed the easiest math class at byu and that you are now failing it a second time. thanks for being THAT GUY that begs the teacher to give you a passing grade even though you do poorly on the tests and assignments. i doubt he has been to class since.

reading this every morning at work. for those of you who don't know, i work in a college placement center that helps undereducated people receive GEDs and degrees from online schools. most of them don't speak well and don't know how to read. i find it very ironic that my boss, who does have a college degree can't even use the proper form of accept. it's a great way to start the day. i guess you could say i work for the derek zoolander school for kids who can't read good and want to do other stuff good too.

sitting in the living room and arguing over where the ward directory is. after searching the apartment, we make the joke that cole must have put it in his backpack to memorize all the girls' names in the ward. thirty minutes later, he walks in the door and stephen asks if he knows where it is. he responds, "ya brother, it's in my backpack." really? we laughed for hours.
