This weekend was very jam-packed. Friday evening, after a long week of school and work, a bunch of us headed up to BYU campus to attend the Fall Festival that featured over 50 clubs and organizations on campus. They had tons of entertainment set up. After wandering, we headed home to watch Tina Fey on David Letterman, which was hilarious by the way. We spent the rest of the night watching Season One of Arrested Development. I went to bed very late, but was up at 6:30 for a service opportunity at Temple Square. They had asked for 30 volunteers from every student ward to drive to Salt Lake and work on the grounds of Temple Square, to help winterize the plants. Erin, Cole, Sam and I volunteered and spent about two and a half hours pulling geraniums and other annuals out of the ground, and cutting the perennials that will return in the spring. Others planted tulip and daffodil bulbs. There were hundreds of students there and in about 3 hours, everything on the grounds was completed. I was amazed at how perfect and different it looked!! To take advantage of our play day, we then attended the Joseph Smith movie and ate lunch at California Pizza Kitchen before meeting up with Spencer, Daphne and Chelsey at the Body World Exhibit. For those of you who haven't heard of it, it is a touring anatomy exhibit that focuses on the cardiovascular system and how it interacts with the other organ systems in our body. It was at the Leonardo Museum downtown and we had heard so much rave about it, we couldn't pass on the learning opportunity. We bought tickets to the 2:30 session, and didn't finish until almost 6:00. It sounds long, but it was incredible. To see every part of the body plasticized and set in original positions is amazing. My department at school had asked each of us to go, and I was ecstatic that I spent my Saturday afternoon learning. We headed to Nordstrom Rack before journeying home. It was a 12 hour day in Salt Lake, and I was exhausted from the lack of sleep the night before. I was planning on going to bed early, but my friend Kelsi from EFY had called explaining she was in town, so her and her friends stopped by my apartment and Sam, Spencer, Jake, Caleb and I went with them to Pudding On the Rice for some dessert. Today is the typical church day, but tonight we will continue our weekly tradition of NERTS. Bring on another week.
