My last and final trip of the summer took place this past week. On Wednesday, Cole, Jeff and I flew out of SLC to San Diego California. Heather and Spencer were there to pick us up at the airport and start our vaca off right. We went straight to the DelMar Beach after eating at In-N-Out and soaked up as much sun as we could before heading off to the guest house where we were staying for two nights. We met up with Nicole (who was a counselor with Mallorie, Jeff and I this summer) and Kimbre before we swam in the pool and then loaded up for a bonfire a little further south of San Diego. They were mostly Spencer's friends, so we just walked the beach and took lots of pictures. The next day we went to do a session at the San Diego temple, where we met up with Mallorie and Nicole. All of us then went to La Jolla Beach where we got sunburned from the overcast weather. We got cleaned up and Heather and I headed up to see her cousin and my mission companion Chase and his wife Kari. They were doing the musical number on Sunday and had asked that I play the piano. We ate, met his whole family and practiced the song before meeting up with everyone else to watch a movie. Friday, Mallorie, Jeff, Spencer, Cole and I headed to Mission Viejo (about 1 1/2 north) to meet up for lunch with Spencer's mission president. He took us to a Chinese place and bought our lunch. We then headed back down through major traffic to Oceanside, eating once again at In-N-Out. We met up at Heather, Kimbre and Nicole for some games at Heathers and then went to stay up in Vista with Chase and Kari. They have a sweet house with a nice pool and they let us crach there for two nights. Saturday, we went to the beach one last time, renting surfboards and playing 3 on 3 sand volleyball. That night, we all went to Old Town San Diego to eat and then to the border to shop at the 300 plus outlet shops. I found amazing deals that day. The night ended with a dance and dessert party with everyone at Heather's house. Sunday morning was the big day. Heather was leaving on a mission to Washington D.C. and her farewell was that morning. I played the piano for Chase and his brother and they did an amazing rendition of "I Know that My Redeemer Lives." Heather did excellent and we went to her house one last time to eat and give presents before we headed off to Las Vegas. We left Nicole and Kimbre and the 5 of us loaded up and made it to Las Vegas by 7:00. We checked into our $44 smokey room at Circus Circus and walked the strip, eating at Harley Davidson Grill and Cheesecake Factory. It was a late night and we lost an hour with the time change. We woke up Labor Day morning and drove the rest of the way to Provo just in time for school to start! It was a last hurrah and time for us to be with Heather. Our trip was memorable, hilarious and very exhausting.
