Reading is a basic tool in the living of a good life." Ever since I was little, I have looked forward to summer. Summer is the time for sleeping in, sleep-overs, night games, lounging, swimming, golf, picnics, sunburns, and READING TIME! I remember books that I would check out from the library and never put down because I was so concentrated on turning the next page and finishing. Because summer is not year round and because of other priorities like school and work, I don't have as much time to read as I would like. Yet, these past few months I have been able to read a variety of fiction and nonficion works by some of my favorite authors. Here is the list if any of you are looking for a great summer read. (Men of Valor - Robert L. Millett...The Lord's Question - Dennis Rasmussen... The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho... The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis... The Broker - John Grisham... An Ordinary Man - Paul Rusesabagina... Prince Caspian - C.S. Lewis... Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - J.K. Rowling... The Audacity of Hope - Barack Obama... Hamlet - William Shakespeare... The Runaway Jury - John Grisham... Night - Elie Wiesel... The Summons - John Grisham... The Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger... The Hiding Place - Corrie Ten Boom). Right now I'm reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. It was recommended to me by like 20 people, so I finally started on it. It is an amazing view of Afghanistan, the culture and the problems that arose within one specific family. I'm only about 100 pages in, but it has been one of my favorite books that I've read so far this summer.
Next I will start on... (Catch 22 - Joseph Heller... The Appeal - John Grisham... Three Cups of Tea - Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin).
